Artist's Statement:

In getting back to art, I have decided to primarily focus on water based paints including Acrylic such as the examples posted in this profile. While, I have salvaged a few pieces of my work as an adult, most of it including work done in my younger days has fallen along the wayside. I see visual art as a pure means of illustrating one’s coexistence on Earth, an individual’s experiences in this world and beyond among people, places and things. While, I admire many artists, Van Gogh in his relatively short life span will always strike a chord with me. His art has tested time, was highly prolific, was diverse in subject matter, beautiful and awe inspiring. And, in spite of his strained mind set as based on many of his letters regarding ongoing economic hardship many of his pieces are instantaneously recognizable, such as “Sunflowers, Bedroom Arles, Café Terrace and Starry Nights.” His yellows in these particular works appeal to me, were brilliantly executed and eye-catching.

Georgia O’Keeffe also a favorite visual artist personality of mine stated something to the effect, “When you look at a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.” Based on sight or sound, fleeting moments of day to day mental visuals seemingly minor, no matter how many, turn out for myself to be an inventory of artworks to eventually be created. Therefore, the artist side of me goes through life in my youth and mature age with an endless number of pictures in my head anticipating one day of sharing them with others by way of my artistic gift. I am intent on making today that day.
