CALL FOR SCULPTORS
2019/2021 DeLand Sculpture Walk
All sculptors are invited to participate in the 2019/2021 DeLand Sculpture Walk Exhibition, March 2019 through February 2021. Organized and presented by the Museum of Art - DeLand with the support of the City of DeLand, this exhibition offers established and emerging artists the opportunity to display their sculptures throughout the heart of beautiful downtown DeLand, Florida.

Deadline: January 28, 2019

Images of Submitted Work: Submit 3 views of each existing work entered; submit a maximum of 3 existing works.

HONORARIA

Several works will be selected for installation throughout downtown DeLand, Florida. Each finalist whose work is installed will receive a $1500.00 honorarium to offset transportation and incidental expenses. Honoraria checks will be presented to the artist at the time of installation. A W-9 form must be completed by the artist before payment can be made by the Museum of Art - DeLand.

APPLICATION CRITERIA
Works not following the criteria will not be considered for installation.
Artists unable to meet the scheduled installation requirements are not eligible for participation and should not apply.

The applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Applications must include an Artist’s Statement of Technique and demonstration of outdoor sculpture experience, including proposed anchoring system.
All entries must be fully completed and received for this exhibition by January 28, 2019.
Application requires 3 views of each existing work for up to 3 works. Submissions must include dimensions, explanation of materials and anchoring system.
The selected works are to be exhibited in downtown DeLand from March 15, 2019 until March 1, 2021. Sculptures must be loaned for the duration of the exhibition as specified and may not be removed and will not be returned until the conclusion of the exhibition.
Work must be suitable for outdoor installation as follows:
• If designed to sit on a hard surface, the piece must be capable of being secured to a concrete pad with anchor bolts (provided by City of DeLand). Bolt holes must be 5/8” (unless an optional anchoring system is provided. Epoxy anchoring systems are not acceptable).
• Capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions (high winds, high temperatures, heavy rains, storms, etc.) All parts and components of the sculpture must be structurally sound and durable.
• Fabricated and finished with non-hazardous materials.
• Maintenance-free for the duration of the exhibition.
• Appropriate for an active pedestrian environment, including consideration of the safety of pedestrians.
Museum of Art - DeLand will absolutely not accept shipments on behalf of the Artist.
All work must be delivered by the artist or the artist’s agent.
Installation and de-installation:
• Installation must take place the week of March 11, 2019. Exhibit location will be at the discretion of the DSW steering committee.
• The artist will be responsible for the delivery of the work to and from DeLand, Florida and for supervising the installation of the sculpture.
• DeLand Sculpture Walk will supply standard equipment and volunteers as needed for installation. The City of DeLand will assist in the installation and de-installation processes. Installation requirements outside the norm are the responsibility of the artist.
• The artist must indicate on the Entry Form how the sculpture will be securely anchored to the ground surface, or if there are other special requirements. Concrete pads will be provided as needed, but not pedestals; the artist must specify if a concrete pad is required, and what size will be appropriate for the sculpture. • There will be an opportunity to meet art patrons, collectors and the community at large at a special evening reception in late March or early April 2019.
• Artists will be responsible for the de-installation and removal of all sculptures the week of March 2, 2021.
8. LIABILITY: During the exhibition period, the City of DeLand will provide insurance coverage for damage to the loaned artwork up to a maximum value of $15,000. Neither the City nor the Museum of Art - DeLand will be held responsible for property damage due to inherent vice or poor construction.
9. DeLand Sculpture Walk, the Museum of Art - DeLand and the City of DeLand reserve the right to photograph any sculpture and/or the artist for documentation, education and publicity purposes without additional compensation.
10. All sculptures that are sold as a result of the 2019/2021 DeLand Sculpture Walk Exhibition, or during the duration of the exhibition, or 90 days thereafter will be assessed a 30% commission by the Museum of Art - DeLand.
11. Participation in the entry process constitutes a full understanding and acceptance of the conditions set forth above. Applications will be reviewed and juried by the DeLand Sculpture Walk Selection Committee. All decisions by the Committee are final.
