  • Bio / Artists statement

Vicky began to draw as a child in Greece, where she was born and received her primary and secondary education. At 19 years old she immigrated to the United States. Even though Vicky has always wanted to become an artist, she had other responsibilities and interests, most importantly taking care of her family. Regardless of the twists and turns in her life journey she always tried to advance her education and attended the nearest college or university wherever she lived. In New Jersey she received her first Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She did not formally begin to study art until she moved to Florida in 2001, where she received her second Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art from the University of South Florida. Recently, Vicky earned her Master’s Degree in Art Education from the University of Florida. In addition to her degrees, Vicky also found time to study interior design, and learned to paint Trompe L’Oeil, murals, and specialty finishes. Although Vicky is a multi-media artist, she predominantly works with oil on canvas. Vicky loves colors and she almost always uses a full color palette. Her approach to painting is to capture nature in a moment of time. Usually she paints what impresses her in her everyday life and from various trips to different places. At this time Vicky lives in New Smyrna Beach Florida, where besides painting, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, writing poems and going to the beach. The artist is also known by her married name, Vicky Pizza. She works freelance, by commission and can be reached through e-mail: vickypfineart@gmail.com.

I am a multi-media artist, but predominantly I work with oil on canvas. Oil paints respond well to the process I use to express my realistic images on a blank canvas. I love colors and I almost always use a full color palette. I also enjoy painting murals and creating sculptures. My approach to painting is to capture nature in a moment of time. I usually paint what impresses me in my everyday life from my trips to different places, including my backyard, and the beach. I pay particular attention to reflections in water, the contrast between light and shadow, facial expressions, and gentle movements. My work is influenced by my Greek heritage, the Neoclassical design, the beauty of nature, and the facial features of people. My philosophy is to make art by treating the environment and other human beings with consideration and justice.
