My education in the art and science of photography began more than 40 years ago. For most of those years, photography filled only the role of a hobby as I provided for my family by working in an industry where artistic expression was not highly valued. My retirement from that vocation several years ago has allowed me to pursue my photographic and artistic interests full-time.
True to my beginnings in photography, the majority of my work, until very recently, consisted exclusively of the traditional forms and techniques of the medium. Due, in part, to the decreasing availability of traditional films, chemicals and media in recent years, I have begun working with equipment, techniques and materials from what I once referred to as the dark side, digital photography. While traditional photography still holds a special place in my heart, I have found that the digital process offers advantages in the areas of speed, flexibility and ever improving image quality.
As for subject, my aim is to capture images that make me smile with recognition and appreciation and reassure me that there is still beauty, wonder, and mystery in this world. Life is great. Enjoy it.
