Hello! I am an Asian American Artist, born to first generation immigrant Chinese parents. I grew up in the Midwest, as a ‘banana’ – yellow on the outside and white on the inside. As an ode to my heritage, I seek to create a poetic visual expression of my Chinese ancestry and Western birth, by the use of blank spaces, calligraphy strokes and bold color ("balancing Chinese and foreign, blending ancient and modern"), to portray the breadth and fusion of my influences who include James Havard, Joan Mitchell, Richard Diebenkorn, Cy Twombly, Ma Desheng, and Henry Wo Yue-Kee , so many masters as well as colleagues and contemporaries.
