Bio / Artists statement

Donna Dowless is a self-taught contemporary artist currently residing in Orlando, Florida. In addition to being an award-winning artist, Donna was former Executive Vice President of Ticketmaster. After three decades in the entertainment industry, she has encountered many unique artists and entertainers... all of whom have left indelible impressions that continue to stir her desire to create. An early 1970s encounter with Andy Warhol left her with these words of wisdom ... "If you are an artist in your heart, so be it!"

"My art is a realization of a life long dream. A sense of tranquility and respect for life impact my images. I create compositions of balance and harmony expressing affirmations from the heart. My works are intended to stir the senses.

My approach to painting varies with each piece. The richness and depth of tones and textures are achieved by applying layers of color washes, acrylics, oil pastels, India ink, and translucent glazes with various tools. My finished work reveals itself after the layers settle into one. My art is meant to extract an invitation to the viewer to visualize special moments in his or her own life." - Donna Dowless
