Born in Lima, Peru, she started to sketch and paint as a child and continued to paint as an adult for self-expression and relaxation.
In 1996 she began studying computer graphics and design. The more she drew, the more she wanted to draw, the more media she wanted to experience.
In 1999 she turned to the Chilean master, Jaime Ferrer, to learn to express herself in oil. She drew upon his wealth of knowledge for four years until she had developed her own style.
In 2001 she started to perfect her sketches with the master of pencil, Jay DePalma and she refined her portrait skills in oil with Argentine artist and teacher J.M. Garcia-Segovia.
In 2002 she pursued additional art instruction of human figure drawing from live models with Leony Fernandez at Miami Dade Community College.
Since 2000, she has benefited greatly from the artistic exchanges and professional guidance of the Cowdisley email group, a forum moderated by international artists, John Hagan, William Whitaker, Virgil Elliot, Juan Martinez, and numerous other recognized artists who so generously share their passion, their discoveries and their expertise.
Now she enjoys tapping the artistic vein that run deep within her whether she is creating an oil painting, a pencil drawing, a computer graphic, an advertisement or an animation.
In gratitude for all the beauty shared with me, she cultivated the next generation of artists by teaching art to youngsters from Saint Timothy Catholic School who love to explore their world through art.- Marlen Muccio
